Veedersburg — Helen L. Newman, age 75, formerly of Veedersburg died at approximately 10:30 p.m. June 28, 2000 at Central Du Page Hospital, Du page County, Ill. She was born in Indiana Decemeber 10, 1924 to Elmer and Faye Keller Mitchel. She was married in 1941 to Edward Newman, he preceded her death, December 31, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Rachel (Tony) Horton of Waynetown, a sister, Ruth (Jim) Ocheltree of Wheaton, Illinois and a brother, Archie (Alberta) Krout of Crawfordsville, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Newman was a member of the community bible Baptist church in Veedersburg. She retired from the Donnelley Corp, of Crawfordsville. She lived in Veedersburg most of her life. She enjoyed music, her family and grandchildren. Private Family services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Kenny Majors officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Preferred memorials to the Community Bible Baptist Church. – jlr
